Windworks is an EPFL spin-off developing smart vertical-axis wind turbines for on-site electricity generation at farms, municipalities, and SMEs. Our turbines actively adapt to the wind: each blade continuously adjusts its orientation using onboard sensors and a proprietary real-time control algorithm. Windworks turbines produce ~2× more energy than conventional small wind systems while significantly reducing structural loads and maintenance needs, extending asset lifetime by up to 7×. Compact, quiet, and below 30 m in height, Windworks turbines integrate easily into existing sites and complement solar power to improve energy autonomy and resilience. We sell turbines and develop long-term energy contracts to deliver clean, predictable, locally produced power at a lower cost than the grid.
