Aneurysms, abnormal swellings in blood vessels caused by weakened walls, pose a significant health risk. Untreated, they can lead to dire consequences, including permanent disability or death. If an aneurysm is located at a hard-to-reach location or has a complex geometry, an intervention can entail high risks.
For doctors who are dissatisfied with having to choose their intervention devices and strategy solely based on their experience, Swiss Vascular provides patient-specific brain vascular models that provide a realistic testing environment for surgeons to rehearse and fine-tune their intervention strategy.
As a team of three ETH Zurich affiliates—Fabian, Pascal, and Oliver—we have collectively pioneered the technology.
