Methane is a substantial contributor to climate change (around 30%) and is likely to worsen. Methane is significantly more harmful to the environment than carbon dioxide: it is 84x more potent over the first 20 years, its emissions are growing 1.6x faster than CO2's and its impact is immediate while CO2 needs to accumulate first. Today, most efforts are concentrated on CO2 removal and abatement, while methane emissions need to be reduced even more urgently. Sixteen44 uses commercially and scientifically proven technology and novel IP from leading research institutes and applies it to the Direct Air Capture of methane, a novel market worth billions.

Mechanical & Design Engineer

Sixteen44 is looking for a high-stakes Mechanical & Design Engineer to join their St-Sulpice team and take 100% ownership of the physical architecture for their methane-removal reactors. This hazardous startup journey requires a versatile engineer with at least 2 years of experience who can seamlessly transition from complex SolidWorks CAD modeling and thermal/fluid dynamic simulations to hands-on fabrication and workshop assembly. As the primary architect of their lab and pilot-scale systems, you will be responsible for material selection, vendor management, and ensuring structural reliability in a fast-paced climate-tech environment where your mechanical innovations directly contribute to atmospheric restoration.
