Bicycle commuting is increasingly popular, especially with the growing number of e-bike users. Unfortunately, commuting in traffic is dangerous. The BFU estimates that almost half of all accidents could be avoided if the people involved were seen a second earlier. Visibility is therefore crucial to cyclists' safety! The current classic light systems lack visibility at different angles. It was in identifying these problems that SideLights was born: a 360-degree visible lighting system making the bike as visible as a car. Arthur Claessens, founder and high-level cyclist, is supported by HEIG-VD and other partners in this project. With over 60 million bicycle commuters traveling to work every day, SideLights is entering a massive market.

Venture Kick
Venture Kick supports potential entrepreneurs with start capital up to CHF 150'000 as well as hands-on execution support and access to a nationwide network of investors and experts in the startup field. Multiple times per year, 8 selected projects get the opportunity to present their business ideas in front of a panel. The 5 most promising projects enter the support process. After 9 months at the latest, the startups incorporate and enter the market. Since 2007, Venture Kick has invested over CHF 58 million in over 1111 projects.
