Advanced control systems for quantum computing.

Great hopes are placed into the revolutionary potential of quantum computing when it comes to drug design, quantum chemistry and optimisation problems. Trapped ions are one of the leading platforms in the race for the first useful quantum computer.
The success of a setup strongly depends on the classical control system that orchestrates all the different devices that have to act together to perform a quantum experiment. I want to commercialise the control system developed in the Trapped Ion Quantum Information group of Prof. Jonathan Home.
There are currently around 40 research groups in Europe around 10 quantum computing startups based on trapped ions. The abundant funding sparks large increase in the number of startups and growth of research groups which need a suitable control system.
