THz filters engineered with thin films and metamaterials.

The 6G frequency spectrum lies within the terahertz (THz) range, a challenging zone between optics and electronics. Despite rapid advancements, THz materials and devices remain limited, often relying on bulk materials like gallium arsenide and silicon. Production of current THz optical components is time-consuming and has limited scalability. Our innovative thin-film-based components are offering efficiency and fast manufacturing, addressing these issues. Led by physicists Dr. Elena Mavrona and Dr. Erwin Hack, our team targets the expanding THz market, projected to grow from $1.2 billion in 2024 to $4.37 billion by 2031.
