INCAPTEK was founded with a goal to develop and promote smart antibacterial drug-eluting coatings for medical devices, including surgical meshes and sutures. Infections associated with medical devices are a health burden worldwide. They increase the risk of complications and mortality for patients and increase the financial burden on the healthcare system. Existing drug-eluting coatings release drugs in a burst within several days, making them ineffective for long-term prophylaxis of infections. We developed next-generation smart drug-eluting coatings with a unique feature - controlled and sustained multi-drug release. With our smart coatings, we aim to prevent infections and also accelerate wound healing, all at a fraction of the cost compared to treatment.
