3% of all the methane extracted is lost into leaks - this represents 30B$/y in gas and a big contribution to global warming.
Distran has developed a novel sensor that literally sees the leaks, in real-time and from a safe distance. Based on the ultrasounds waves leaks are creating, the hand-held device pinpoints the leaks in all industrial environments from up to 40m and independently from the gas type.
Distran's sensors are use by major industrial companies around the world such as Total, Shell, Air Liquide and Solvay amongst others, limiting personnel exposure to gas and reducing industry environmental footprint.
Distran is supported by the Swiss Climate Foundation and the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment.
