PIPRA is launching an AI-based postoperative delirium (POD) risk stratification tool, which at last allows implementation of the POD prevention guidelines to work in the real world. Health care professionals can now base their decision-making on hard facts. Saving time and money by reducing length of stay by an average 2.9 days per patient. PIPRAs AI-based decision support tool calculates the risk of postoperative delirium for each patient. The preoperative test allows cost-effective deployment of preventative strategies for patients most at risk.
This new technology is enabling a shift to preventive rather than reactive healthcare, saving both costs and time while improving outcomes. POD is the largest postoperative complication in older patients, affecting 20% of patients over 60.
