BLINQ started in 2013 as a dating application and introduced the iBeacon technology to connect its users in real-time at nightclubs and bars. Using the dating application insights, they are now launching their new product, a real-time recommendation engine for events. To enrich the data collected from beacons and to improve recommendations, a novel peer-to-peer discovery technology is implemented. This technology enables the detection of phones beyond venues with physical beacons and works even without Bluetooth.
