AIRLIGHT ENERGY is a private Swiss company established in 2007 and based in Biasca (Ticino) that supplies proprietary technology for large-scale production of electricity using solar power and for energy storage. AIRLIGHT ENERGY has developed an innovative and complete solution for the markets of Concentrated Solar Power (CSP), Concentrated Photo Voltaic (CPV) and energy storage (Advanced Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage - AA-CAES).

Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) is one of the oldest and most convenient technologies for converting solar power into electricity and exploits thermodynamic processes, whereas Concentrated Photo Voltaic (CPV), where concentrated solar radiation is converted directly into electrical energy via photovoltaic cells, is at the cutting edge. Both have reached a high level of competitiveness and make it possible to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and cut CO2 emissions down to zero. The fact that CSP and CPV systems complement each other, through a single collector, represents a great advantage for the company, as these two products cover completely different market requirements, at highly competitive prices. AIRLIGHT ENERGY is also committed on the energy storage front. As a matter of fact, the company ALACAES was recently formed, an initiative of AIRLIGHT ENERGY Holding SA, Amberg Engineering AG. and Lombardi SA – Ingegneri Consulenti, for electricity storage by means of compressed air in caves or tunnels (AA - CAES). Furthermore, AIRLIGHT ENERGY continues its research and development activities. At the moment, the company is also developing ad hoc products, including, among others, the construction of a special mirror capable of concentrating the power of the sun over 5'000 times for a high concentration photovoltaic thermal (HCPVT), in collaboration with IBM Research and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ).
