Inexpensive, scalable, precisely focus tunable lenses based on electro active polymer actuators.

A new technology based on electro active polymer actuators enables the implementation of an inexpensive, scalable, precisely focus tunable lens. The patented technology facilitates optical zoom and auto-focus without the use of complicated mechanical positioning mechanisms. Therefore a compact, light-weight, robust implementation of a wide range of optical systems is possible. Application examples in which Optotune's products are already used are machine vision cameras, dental cameras, cinema projectors and retail spot lights. Furthermore, various customers are integrating the products into mobile phone cameras, laser based pico projectors, head-up displays and head lights in cars, laser processing equipment and various medical equipment.
Optotune's vision is to enables product innovation by delivering key components based on novel platform technologies.
